The Anemone also known as windflowers are part of the buttercup family. There are about 120 different species of this plant.
They tend to bloom in the spring and in the fall. They come in many bright colors such as red, purple, white and pink. My favorite is the pink windflower.

Some popular types of Anemone flowers are the Grecian windflower, which is a tuberous plant that you will find in white, pink, or blue. They grow in early spring and range from 6 to 8 inches tall. They need to be kept in a sunny spot.
There is a Snowdrop version that also blooms in the springtime. They grow to be about a foot tall and have beautiful white flowers. They are a herbaceous perennial that can grow best in the shade.
The wood windflower is another type of this flower that grows mostly in North America. It blooms white flowers with a hint of pink, and grows to be anywhere from 4 to 12 inches tall.
Windflowers need to be planted in a well-drained area with nutritious soil. They need to be watered regularly as they will not survive in a drought. While all of them grow differently, most windflowers should be planted in the fall in order to grow in the spring.
The tubers of the Grecian needs to be soaked first, and then planted at about 2 to 3 inches deep.
The snowdrop can be planted in fall or spring in warmer climates, and in the spring in cooler climates.
