China Aster (Callistephus) is a flower that resembles a daisy, but only has one species. It is primarily grown in China. They are annuals that have a long blooming period. They begin to bloom in the middle of summer and can continue to grow all the way through to the first frost.

They bloom in summer shades of blue, purple, pink, red, and white. The leaves they grow are a vivid green and have toothed edges.

When you start to plant the seeds for your flower, you have two options.

You can plant the seeds indoors at about 6 weeks before the last frost, or you can grow the seeds outdoors when there is no longer a danger for frost.

Plant your seed in rich moist soil in an area that receives full sun. Space the seeds about 1 to 1 1/2 feet apart. Water the plant during times of drought or dry spells.

Since asters are prone to various diseases, do not plant the asters in the same spots year after year. This will help your plants to be disease free.
